Transit OverviewWhile it is possible to take a bus or taxi to get to the various conference venues, the SkyTrain rail system is likely to be the most practical. Also refer to the Locations & Maps section for detailed information on the location of the various conference venues. SkyTrainThe SkyTrain is Vancouver's light rapid transit system. For detailed information on how to use the system, see the TransLink SkyTrain website. Trains run every 2 to 8 minutes. From Downtown to MetrotownTo take the SkyTrain from downtown Vancouver to Metrotown station (the site of the conference on August 5th and 6th) board any train heading east (in the direction of "King George" or "Commercial Drive" stations). Exit the train at "Metrotown" station. The trip should take from 12 to 18 minutes. From the SkhyTrain station, follow the crowds towards Metropolis Metrotown. Head accross the covered walkway bridge and take the escalator down to street level and turn right. You should see an Express cafe, which you will pass through to reach the The Holiday Inn. From Metrotown to DowntownTo take the SkyTrain from Metrotown to Waterfront Station (the site of the keynotes and the reception on August 4th) board a train on the blue or "Expo" line. You must board a train heading west in the direction of "Waterfront" station. Exit the train at Waterfront station (the final station). The trip should take 18 minutes. Exit the station on Cordova street, and walk up to the corner of Cordova and Richards streets. Turn right on Richards and walk up to the corner of Richards and Hastings. The Harbour Center building (the site of the conference reception) is easily recognizable. A picture of it is on the Keynotes page. CostTickets can be purchased at every SkyTrain station using Canadian cash (coins and bills up to $20), credit card or debit card. A single trip costs $2.25 on the evening or weekend.
